termcraft

termcraft is a terminal-first 2D sandbox game written in Rust. The target feel is a classic early-2012 survival progression: survive the first night, mine ore, smelt gear, enter the Nether, find the stronghold, and beat the dragon.

Version: 0.1.0

Status: early alpha. The game is playable today, but some behavior is still rough, incomplete, or buggy.

What The Current Build Supports

  • local single-player survival as the main supported way to play
  • procedural Overworld, Nether, and End generation
  • mining, placing, inventory, crafting, furnaces, brewing, boats, and storage
  • health, hunger, combat, weather, fluids, crops, farming, and progression through the dragon fight
  • broad hostile/passive mob coverage plus villages, dungeons, strongholds, and Nether fortresses

What To Expect In This Build

  • This is still an early alpha.
  • The game is substantial and playable, but not polished to full parity.
  • Networking exists in the repo, but it is still experimental and should not be the headline feature.

Public Positioning

If you describe the project publicly, keep it accurate:

  • terminal-first 2D sandbox survival in Rust
  • early alpha
  • local single-player first
  • broad content surface, but not full parity
